Perioperative Problem Based Medicine
By Apollo Simulation Centre
Description
Perioperative care begins from the time a patient enters a surgical clinic with a potential surgically treatable problem and continues through surgery until full recovery. Clinicians need to understand the pathophysiology of how a particular patient will respond to surgical stress, dynamics under anaesthesia and the potential problems that may arise in the postoperative period. With this knowledge, they can assess, treat and escalate management as appropriate. The basic concept is patient-centric multidisciplinary care based on surgical factors and patient factors. ASC’s Perioperative Problem Based Medicine course focuses on knowledge of perioperative medicine, clinical skills and non-technical skills which are an integral component of team-based OR emergency management.
