A survey was conducted among physicians who attended comprehensive courses in advanced gastrointestinal MASA at the Centre for Minimal Access Surgery (CMAS) in Hamilton, Ontario.
This programme aims to assess the impact of such comprehensive courses on surgeons’ practice, helping them acquire advanced techniques and improve patient outcomes.
Description
Practising surgeons require effective methods to learn new skills and procedures in advanced minimal access surgery (MASA). Traditional educational methods include 1-day continuing medical education symposia, instructional videos, mentoring, or comprehensive courses that integrate lectures, skill labs, and live surgery. The effectiveness of comprehensive courses in advanced MASA for improving surgeons’ knowledge, skills, and clinical practice is yet to be fully established.
